Actually…yes. I’ve been in so many preschool classrooms where kiddos really are developing horrible writing habits and more that will follow them all through their school years.

For example, kids are often given letter and name writing worksheets and then just left to kind of figure it out on their own. Meanwhile, their little hands aren’t even ready to hold a pencil, and bad habits are being formed as they practice doing it “wrong” over and over again.

Absolutely not!!! You don’t need to be a teacher or an OT or even be particularly creative in any way to be successful in teaching your child about letters while building a strong fine motor foundation.
